As a writer, reviews are one of the most difficult things to gather. We all know how Amazon works right? (well, certainly for me anyway) You see a product you like, think you’re going to buy it and then take a look at what the reviews say. If it hasn’t got any reviews, that’s a major red flag. If it has a few dodgy reviews, again, that’s enough to make you think twice and possibly back away.
For that reason, reviews are super important for writers in order to gain both sales but also attract new readers. But the frustrating thing is, they reckon only between 1% and 5% of readers take the time to leave them. Which is why it is such a thrill when I discover a new review has appeared. Particularly when it says something as nice as this from KW (whoever that wonderful person is! If I knew, I’d be sending them a Christmas card!):

And then when that review says something as heartwarming as that last sentence (believe me, all writers suffer from imposter syndrome and this one is no different!), then that just about makes my day, if not my Christmas!
I’m a quarter of the way through writing a sequel to this book – I’m feeling the pressure not to screw it up now 😉
